I guess this is the part where I pull a Lil Kim and just go like
“Been gone for a minute now I’m back with the jump off!”
After my very long writers block I’m happy to report that I’m back to continue where I left off. Now, onto serious business!
Over the past 2 or so years, the music scene in Nairobi has changed rapidly with the rise of new artists, genres, dance styles and all that’s related to it. I have been loving how every time I log into my SoundCloud feed I almost always bump into a new sound from our talented Kenyans. (mad props to Blinky and Jack Rooster who feed me with new listens every now and then)
I discovered EA Wave some time back in June this year and I couldn’t stop playing their music. There’s a freshness that you can detect in their style that is somewhere between Saint Heron dope and Katranada fresh.
According to their SoundCloud bio,
“EA Wave (East African Wave) is a collective of 5 DJ Producers from Nairobi. Cutting across genres with unique and individual styles, each of them making their own waves in the industry. They DJ and produce as a collective, as individuals and everything in between. Their combined energies and creativity are helping fuel a new creative sector wide movement in urban Nairobi, around what’s becoming known as #NuNairobi.”
This is the playlist that introduced me to their awesome sound. Let me know what you think on the comment section!
