”Rosebella .A. Oruko” is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, performer and dancer. Her career in music began in 2009 with the debut of her indie group “Codelink 310”, thereafter working with various artistes including Floyd and Mistic Music. She signed a record deal with Onyx Musik Records in 2014, and released her first song “I Gat this Game” which earned her “Best New Act” and “Best Female Artiste” nominations in the 2015 VYBES Awards, and a “Female Artiste of the Year” nomination in the 2015 Flamingo Awards. Her second single “Not Again” was released later in 2015. Bella Beila sings in English, Kiswahili and Luo . Her debut studio album was slated for a mid-year release in 2016.
In 2009, Bella Beila launched her music career while pursuing her higher degree course. She joined the indie group “Codelink 310” as a vocalist, where she co-wrote songs and performed in concerts. In early 2014, she met record producer Mike Miwo (alias “BeatPoet”) and grew a rapport with him, later signing with Onyx Musik Records later in the year. Post signing her record deal with Onyx Musik Records, Bella Beila developed a new persona, choosing to be original and “close to heart” with her emotions and ideas in songwriting.
In August the same year, she released her first song that went on to earn her three nominations in two Awards. She was nominated for “Best New Act” and “Best Female Artiste” in the 2015 VYBES Awards and “Female Artiste of The Year” in the 2015 Flamingo Awards. Bella Beila graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration, finance option from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) on the 31st of July, 2015. Her third single “No Doubt” from her debut album “H.I.S” (How I See) was released shortly after.
Outside the bounds of Nakuru, Bella Beila’s new single aired on national radio and university campuses, including Nation Fm, Homeboyz radio, Egerton University’s Egerton Radio and Kenyatta University’s K.U. Radio 99.9 FM. Bella Beila described her song as “… a story of a couple assuring each other of their loyalty and genuine affection towards each other. There is no doubt that despite the obvious distance between them, or their outgoing nature… they still value their love. There is no doubt that their relationship will always come first…” The official release of “No Doubt” was announced as 1st March 2016, following the announcement of her debut album “H.I.S.” (How I See) Bella has performed at Mr. and Mrs Agriculture Egerton whose cause is to promote Youth Involvement in Agriculture for Food Security and National Growth and at various events, including the Nakuru Festivals 2015, Vybez Awards 2015, Taidy’s among others.
Since joining Onyx Musik Records in 2014, she has worked closely with her label mates Allen Bard, Shozemah and i9 Musik in creating projects. She has also shared the stage with other Kenyan stars such as Amileena, Fena Gitu, Jua Kali, Khaligraph Jones and Sarabi, among others. Bella has worked with Sarabi Band on the Ghetto Radio #JukumuLetu which is a Government of Kenya sponsored project aimed at educating the Kenyan youth and citizens on their rights.
